'53 180 Brake parts.
Author Last Post
I have the exact same setup on my 1956 180 and it is junk. Never would hold the brake pedal down for more than a few minutes. There is a reason it was superseded by the ratcheting system in 1958. Highly recommend you convert your system to that.

You can find all the parts at a salvage yard as they are the same on the 182.

I was able to scour the parts manual for the '53 180.

On PDF page 350, or physically 244 of the manual, it shows the rudder +brake assembly.

I'm specifically looking for the left pedal, parking brake "lever."  It doesn't appear to have a part number.

With that, I'd also need to cross connecter (to the right pedal) which in turn is connected to the parking brake cable.

Any ideas?

I found all the parts I needed at Preferred Parts in Ohio.

Can't compliment them enough for their service and support.

Thanks for the quick reply. The parts are behind the rudder pedals on the master cylinder.

I have a set of wheels and brakes off my 53 180, i changed them out for a new set of wheels and brakes from Alaska Bushwheels I will sell the set for 200.00.

I bought a 1953 180 a few months ago. I anticipated replacing a number of items and it's looking good so far.

The last few things I need are a few parts:

Brake group
0541141-1 left hand brake
Spacer 0541145
Spring 0541146

Linkage and clamp
0713037 -Clamp
0713020-1 linkage spring
0713020-2 cross arm

There was a right assembly on eBay, I just bought. I'm looking for the left assembly.

Thanks!!
