Author Last Post
Samuel: I am in Roswell, NM with a ‘56 C180. I have a Barbary Sheep Hunt starting February 1 in Lincoln County. Maybe we should get together and share some area flying and hunting???

Samuel I can’t join you but I will say you’re ruined forever after having a Sportsman 520 180 as a 220 hour pilot!!!  Just like having Vanna White as your first girlfriend!

Making a trip in early february to see my Dad in Las Cruces NM, and then on to College Station TX for our annual helicopter hog slaughter. Thought I might enjoy some scenery along the way, perhaps some predator hunting. Anyone along that route that might want to meet up? I am now a 220 hour total time pilot with about 50 in the 180. Need to be in College Station TX on February 8th. I have a '53 with a 520 and a sportsman STOL.

I have discovered that my airplane outperforms most in the area. It makes me feel like I am cheating, but I sure like it. Not bad for my first real airplane.

My trip will put me way far east of Utah, I will do some exploring down there in the coming months. I am looking forward to the scenery of west texas, never been there before.

If you have some time to spare, be sure and go by Bryce Canyon, Zion, Canyonlands around Moab, UT, Grand Canyon, and Monument Valley. The view from Gouldings Lodge at Monument Valley has the most spectacular sunrises you will ever see in the United States plus the scenery in general is awesome and nothing like you will see anywhere else. Great flying all thru the western states but those are standouts.

If you happen to stop at T82, Fredericksburg, Texas, I would be happy to meet you and I should have room in my hangar if you want to put it inside. The Hangar Hotel and Officer's Club here is an attraction in itself, right on the tie down ramp with the Airport Diner next door.

Have a great trip and fly safe.
