C180 Pponk dash 50 prop options...
Author Last Post
Doug,

C185 1980 with pPonk.
We changed from McCauley to MT.
53lbs excluding the spinner.
Weight and CG was the reason.
Thrust about the same, probably a little more.
On a Scout on Amphibs we run a MT as well.
Never needed to files those little spray holes you get on aluminium props

hope this helps / not too late
fair winds
Stefan

Cheers tx

Doug,

Contact Kevin Quinn from Points North Heliski at 53skywagon@gmail.com

He's got a Ponked '53 180 and swears by the MT 3-blade. He tried the 401 as well.

Bring your wallet however. The MT is spendy.

Tailwinds,
Paul Brown

I see MT has an STC for the Pponk dash 50 C180 combo.
I have heard of issues with forward CG with the big heavy Mccauley 3 blader.
So forward weight reduction vs thrust vs cost.
Anyone here have any stories of Pponking a 180 seaplane and which prop works best?
cheers & thanks...
