Avionics - Certificated

GTX 345 with Aera 796 or iPad
Author Last Post
What did it cost to install the NGT-9000+ last fall and where did you have it done?  Will it display (wifi) to a Garmin 796 with out bluetooth? I have a C180C(20+ yrs).

I just installed an NGT 9000+ (ADS-B in and out with active traffic) in my Cessna 185F floatplane and I highly recommend the unit.  Both the ADS-B and traffic features work well and the configurable traffic audio warning system is a great feature.  In addition the ADS-B out is a 1090MHZ Mode S so that it will work outside the US unlike the 978 MHZ units.  It is clearly the most cost effective and complete solution.

It seems that nobody is considering the L-3 Avionics, NGT9000 ADS-B.  You get far more with it, and the price is better than Garmins price for an "IN & OUT" system.

After installing a few of these units, one owner now has over 50 hours on it, flying from Washington state to Virginia and back, and he really loves it, even though he's paid a much higher price, before the price drop.

Anyone have an in panel mount for the Aera 796? I want to install a Garmin GTX 345 In/Out so I can get the $500 rebate:) I am considering using the iPad with ForeFlight, but then start thinking about the Aera 796 again. One fear I have is that as soon as I buy the 796, Garmin will immediately come out with the next latest and greatest version. That possibility will always be there, though.

Does anyone have experience with both? The brighter screen on the 796 seems to be the commonly seen difference between the two.  I've seen a display of an in-panel/removable mount of the 796, and wondered if anyone has that set up. Thank you.

I love my 796.
