Need assist straps
Author Last Post
hilltop 180, those look great!

Dayle,

Do you have a contact for him by any chance?
Tom

I needed some also and got some for door posts from Roger Sell in Slateington, PA at 69N. I believe he had several more.

Here's a good option I saw a couple of weeks ago in a friend's 185. Any saddle or holster maker could duplicate it to your specs.

Should have rephrased that
It is a seaplane, and what I ment was buying a new V brave to replace the perfectly good one for the lack of assist straps is overkill.

If you do any rough field work, the V-brace stiffens up the fuselage lessening side to side flexing.

I think a new Vbrace for a land airplane is kinda overkill.

Just wanted the standard assist straps or an aftermarket version.

One other thought is a seaplane V-brace. Atlee Dodge makes a heavy duty seaplane V-brace that uses 3/4" tubing that is strong enough to use as a hand-hold in place of the assist straps. I had a 1973 A185F and if I remember correctly, the stock assist straps and Cessna V-brace were all pretty flimsy.

I haven't ever had or wished I did have assist straps in my 180, but I do have an Atlee V-brace.

Tom,

My airplane has 1" nylon webbing for straps. They're light and work just fine.

Hi,
I am buying a 73 185 and one thing it needs is entry assist straps. The owner had a Selkirk interion installed many years ago and they never replaced the assist straps. I gather I can get a kit from Cessna but was wondering what other options there might be.
Any thoughts greatly  appreciated.
