I had KAI repainted in 2006. The original quote was $15K for the airplane and $5K for the floats. I was expecting $25K in total.
When all was said and done, and we corrected corrosion issues, and dented aluminum issues, and this and that and the other thing including all new stainless steel screws, a new panel, new single pane front window, and on and on and on.
The price was $45K.
The airplane is better than new and I love the end result. But I’ll tell you that it did not go over very well with the Spouse!

Subject: Paint shop recommendation <<$120051294858$>>
I am searching for a paint shop within 2-3 hours flight from Santa Fe NM. All the quotes I have so far are all over the place varying between 8 and 22k! Does any one have experience with Devine in TX (http://www.devineair.com). Their price appears reasonable but I have no idea about the quality of their work. Thank you for helping. After going through a full restoration of my 180J over the past year, I have spent way more than expected and rather not go into an extravagant paint project.
