All of the Classified Forums are now available to the Public and Non-Members as read only forums.

I am awaiting approval from the Club Executive and then ALL CLUB FORUMS will be available to the Public and Non-Members in Read Only mode except the Internal Member Comunications Forum which will be for Active Members only.

Michael, I totally agree with you....

I think that the new web site should function just like the prior web site... open to all visitors for viewing... non-members can't post.

Arnold, why do you have to ask the board in order to duplicate something that we already had?  If you are to ask anyone, it seems that you should ask the members.  (use the website survey tool).

If you keep the website locked down, then non-members will have no idea about all the good data that is is in the Forums... they won't be able to even see a list of all the Forum titles.

AND, no webcrawlers will be able to get in either.  That means that all the web search results that used to point to Skywagons, org, will not point to anything inside the Skywagons website.  For example, if I use google to search for Skywagons on Aerocet Floats, or.... Skywagon jackscrews.... I used to get a pointer into the prior website.  The way it is now, you will never see a link to the Skywagon website. Not even a clue that there is such a thing as the Skywagon organization.  I think that would be a real shame.

Quoted TextI agree with opening the Aircraft for Sale forum to the public but will have to get approval from the Board of Directors first.

I don't think the Board of Directors wants to continue to support public access to all of the other Club Forums as it was done in the past but will get clarification.

As a fairly new member, I really believe preventing public access to the forums in read-only would be a terrible mistake. It was only after browsing through the forums that I made the decision to join. With the small numbers we have in the club, it seems like we should "leave the door open", so to speak!

When people do searches on specific 180/185 issues, the results show these publicly-viewable forums. That is a lot of advertising! It also helps to support the Club's goals promoting the type and of getting more Skywagon owners to join - we don't have all of them yet.

I think that everyone should be able to see the Aircraft for Sale forum... otherwise if you posted a plane for sale, and only members could see the post, then your ad would be limited to the very small population of people who already own a Skywagon.  That would make it almost pointless to even bother posting an ad.

Additionally, I think that the entire Forum should be open to the general public.  Except that members are the only ones who can start new threads or reply to old ones.  Then the new website would look like the prior site which was open to all people to read.

Do club members want the Aircraft For Sale forum made available to the Public / Non-Members?
